TD 16091 Previous owner was Sam Gast. Sam had a lifelong fascination for antique cars, which he began to collect in the late 1940 s. Eventually, his passion blossomed into a full-time business. In 1976, along with his wife and older son, he founded Gast Classic Motorcars, selling vintage cars from their showroom on Main Street in New Holland. Sales flourished as the business grew but at the same time, it became clear that many showroom visitors just wanted to reminisce and admire the cars. To accommodate visitor and tourist alike, as well as the serious customer, Sam and his family acquired land in Strasburg where they erected a museum in 1985, known as Gast Classic Motorcars Exhibit. It evolved into a well-known Lancaster County tourist attraction and was featured in many national publications.
Sam became a well-known figure at antique car auctions throughout the United States. Nationwide, dealers and collectors alike, admiring his vast knowledge and insight, frequently sought him out for advice. He retired from the collector car business in 1990.
