1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible Re-Creation
Every era has to have a beginning, and what is widely regarded as the "Muscle Car Era" began with this car-the legendary 1964 Pontiac GTO. Borrowing from the hot rods of the 1950's, domestic automobile manufacturers installed large, powerful engines into their production sedans and coupes. These beasts ruled the road for about eight years until perceived safety issues regulated them out of existence.
The GTO, or "goat", was an optional trim level of the LeMans. This car originated as a LeMans convertible and was painstakingly recreated into a GTO. Great care was taken to add the distinguishing badging and insignia that was included in the original trim level.
